What do you get when you combine Paw Patrol, Minions and The Hunger Games?

A .5 Celebration Lesko-style! 🙂  All of my children were born in the winter, two of which were born within a few weeks of Christmas.  Add in four more family members who have December birthdays and you have one hectic December!  We decided to try something a little different this year by celebrating all three birthdays on the same day in the summer.  By having the party in the summer, we were able to do activities we would have never been able to do around their actual birthdays.  Fortunately for us, we were blessed with perfect weather!  The little ones enjoyed swimming and a water slide while the older kids played on the Slip’N Slide, had a water balloon fight and played with Oobleck.  Each kid chose their own special party theme.  Currently, Sammy is a HUGE Paw Patrol fan.  So much so that he pulled a chair up to the counter in the kitchen, pressed the fire and police symbol on our ADT system and yelled, “Paw Patrol to the rescue!”  Sounds cute, until the Gilberts Police and Rutland Fire Department along with the Elgin Fire Department (as backup) show up at your door step.  Man, this kid is quick; you can’t take your eyes off of him for a minute!  Annie chose a minion theme and Madison picked The Hunger Games for her theme.  Unfortunately, there are no decorations at the party stores for The Hunger Games, so I had to consult my new best friend, Pinterest.  Of course, there were so many ideas on Pinterest, only time could stop me.  In the end, I think everyone had a great time.  Even though it was a little strange celebrating their birthdays at the halfway point, we’re glad we did.

I wanted to blog about this personal event to give a shout out to all of the people who helped us make this party special, especially Daisy from Piece-A-Cake Bakery in the Dundee.  Not only were these cake delicious, she really outdid herself decorating them.  The Katniss cake especially turned out amazing, and I know she put a lot of hard work into making it just right!  (FYI-Maddie cried when we finally cut into it.) Thank you, Daisy!  And thank you to all of the dear family and friends who came out to celebrate with us.  It truly wouldn’t have been a celebration without you!
